I hope that you are enjoying the lovely fall weather, the shifting focus and rising energy as we head into the holiday season. I’ve spoken with many of you since my return from Colorado and shared what a lovely visit and reconnect that was. I was happy to see many friends and fellow travelers on the path. I recently completed my portion of what turned into a major two-year project and am now feeling the opening of possibility for my next chapter. It will be fun to see what comes.
I receive a variety of newsletters from healers and spiritual teachers around the country. A consistent theme, and one that I am also seeing with clients and students, is that of emotional processing and release. As earth's vibrational frequency shifts and refines we experience and manifest the changes each in our own ways. Shifting awareness, releasing of karmic debts, and processing of emotional wounds are all part of this change. You may have noticed your own old wounds or traumas presenting themselves for healing. We now have an opportunity to sort out our history to release the old and integrate the new, higher frequency.
There are many tools to help us navigate these shifts. Developing presence through physical practices such as Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Yoga are powerfully supportive and can even initiate the awareness of the issues that are ready for release. Meditation, music (gentle, integrated music), being in nature all allow the stilling of the mental chatter to support processing and transformation. Journaling and art support the clearing and release of the old emotions. Should the emotions seem overwhelming psychological support is available.
When we experience an energetic shift, its not uncommon to feel confused and untethered. The commomplace becomes new and we have to learn how to live our ordinary and extraordinary life all over again. Eventually the new becomes familiar and we are ready for the next step.
I encourage you to establish a regular daily practice of exercise and meditation to support your health through the upcoming holiday season and into the New Year. Stressing our bodies with rich food, alcohol, poor sleep, and being with family or being alone during the holidays can trigger old, unresolved emotional wounds. Establishing or maintaining a regular daily practice in the face of these challenges can, at a minimum, support or even strengthen our body, mind and spirit!
Going Beyond Basic Health
The Daoist tradition focuses on the cultivation of both the mental/emotional and the physical aspects of our self concurrently. There is recognition that the cultivation of both is needed. Master Chen, my teacher, talks about building a super-sonic jet (the body) and training a Super Pilot (the spirit) in order to travel to heaven. To support the burning of jet fuel (high frequency energy) we have to have a strong body with smooth, heavy gauge wiring.
The Super Pilot is developed through the processing and clearing of old, limiting mental and emotional patterns. Master Chen refers to this as cultivating the Master Within. The consequent refinement of our energetic frequency and vibration lets us to bring in more voltage, more electricity, higher quality and quantity of energy, jet fuel. The yogic and Buddhist Kundalini awakening, and the Daoist opening of the Micro-Cosmic Orbit are indicators of a major shift in the amount of energy we are circulating.
The super-sonic jet, the physical body, is like a battery or electrical wire. Depending on its health, the body is capable of holding a certain amount of power and is capable of carrying a defined amount of energy. If you try to pass more energy through the body’s channels or to put more power into the body than it is capable of carrying, the body, battery or wire will burn up. If you open up the energetic pathways without cultivating physical health there is a risk of illness, physical and mental, as the energy burns through clogged and dirty passageways, stored and repressed emotions.
The practices of Tai Chi, Qi Gong, meditation and yoga not only help us achieve improved health and longevity, but also smooth our energetic pathways, refine and strengthen our bodies so that we can carry higher quality jet fuel. With determination and discipline we can rebuild, strengthen and transform our bodies until they are capable of carrying the highest voltages, until they become supersonic jets.
